Susan has known since a young age that she wanted to be a business owner, “There was something magical about the thought of creating a place where I could meet and serve the people of my community.” Originally from Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, Susan was romanced and inspired by her hometown shops, “To me, they were the places where people came together.”
Susan is a lover of books, all things paper, nature, and learning. She has a curious and compassionate spirit which has translated into a way to share her passions and bring joy to others. Susan is self described as Old Fashioned and stated that “It’s fun to share the love of paper, stationery, and art supplies with kindred spirits.”
Susan attended the Praxis School of Entrepreneurship which was located at the Farmers Market building on 19th Street. Attending school in Riversdale started her passion for our community and to her, it just made sense to continue this support by opening Soul Paper on 20th Street West. “There are some wonderful businesses in Riversdale” Susan say’s regarding her community. Soul Paper is located in 118 20th Street West, which was built in 1908, and brings an amazing amount of character to the store, as it is “the oldest building on our block and still has the original floor, or so we think.”
Soul Paper is an incredibly unique store that “celebrates the renaissance of correspondence and creating by offering a distinctive selection of artisanal papers, fine stationery, notebooks, pens, ink, gift wrap, greeting cards, gifts, and mixed-media art supplies.”
Soul Paper carries products from long standing businesses from around the world, as well as carrying and supporting national and local Canadian businesses.
